Oheb Shalom Presents Author/Celebrity Chef for Evening of Challah Making and Conversation

Oheb Shalom Congregation invites the community to an evening of modern tradition, storytelling and culinary art featuring Jake Cohen, the two-time New York Times bestselling cookbook author, TV host and prominent Jewish food personality. The interactive challah making event will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Oheb Shalom, located at 170 Scotland Road, South Orange, New Jersey. 

Attendees to “The Big Braid with Jake Cohen” will experience a high-energy, interactive evening featuring Cohen’s signature challah recipe, paired with personal stories about his perspective on Jewish cooking, family, culture and modern tradition. The evening will blend food, music and community vibes. Tickets are priced at $72 per person and can be purchased here. 

Jake Cohen is the host of “Jake Makes it Easy” on A+E and the author of the hit cookbooks Jew-ish, I Could Nosh and Dinner Party Animal. A fixture on national programs such as Good Morning America and the Food Network, Cohen is celebrated for his fresh, contemporary take on Jewish baking and hospitality. Synagogue leaders say they are thrilled to welcome the community and host Jake Cohen as he shares his warmth, humor and culinary expertise with all.
