A woman is accused of killing her husband and 3-year-old son at a popular resort in the Pocono Mountains in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The Pocono Township Police Department and a district attorney have confirmed a double homicide occurred Monday night in a guest room at the Great Wolf Lodge, a resort and indoor waterpark in Scotrun, Pennsylvania, which is outside of Tannersville and is located between Scranton and Allentown.

“This was a violent domestic tragedy in which two people, the boy and the father, lost their lives,” Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso said in a news conference on Tuesday. “There are charges filed now against the woman who was actually the caller.”

According to court documents obtained by sister station WGAL, 27-year-old Metallica Harrison of Towanda, Pennsylvania, is accused of killing her 3-year-old son and her husband, who has been identified as Charles Harrison.

Charles Harrison suffered multiple stab wounds, while the child suffered a single stab wound to the chest.

Metallica Harrison was taken to the hospital for self-harm and told dispatchers she wanted to die to be with her husband and son. She is facing two counts of criminal homicide.

Police say this was an isolated domestic tragedy and there is no threat to the community.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing.

“There’s a lot more testing. There are post-mortem examinations yet to be conducted. There’s a review of various items of evidence. All of that will be unfolding over the course of the next several months, so this is only the first stage in a long process,” District Attorney Mancuso said.

Great Wolf Resorts calls deaths an isolated family incident

WGAL received a statement from Jason Lasecki, vice president of corporate communications for Great Wolf Resorts, who said the incident was an isolated family matter.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred yesterday in a guest room at our resort in the Pocono Mountains. It was an isolated family incident, and we’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected,” Lasecki said.

He added, “Out of respect for those involved, as well as the integrity of the investigation, we ask that any further information regarding this matter be directed to the Pocono Township Police Department.”
