A controversially named local chicken restaurant is opening its second location this week.
Overdose Hot Chicken, opened its newest location in Gahanna after announcing the expansion in May. The new restaurant is located at 5352 N Hamilton Rd. and offers signature fried chicken, burgers, and fries.
The hot chicken spot is holding a soft opening event on October 14, where guests can try their seasoned tenders and test their limits with the restaurant’s Heat Dose levels—ranging from sober to overdose.

While Overdose has amassed nearly 30k followers on Instagram and plenty of local love, its brand name has received some heat since its original opening in 2024, as the flagship location in Hilltop at 3260 W. Broad Street is just down the road from three addiction recovery centers.
Previously reported by 614Now, a representative of the store stated that the name was originally meant as a way to “simply reflect the spiciness we offer,” as guests can select their own spice level, from “sober” with no spice, to their highest level, “overdose”. They noted there “no joke or bad intention” behind the name.
The Overdose Hot Chicken Gahanna location will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from midnight to 8 p.m.
