Diners reveal the top-rated chain steakhouse cuts, from ribeyes to filets.

If you really want to eat the best steak money can buy, you are going to have to throw down big bucks and hit one of the independently owned top steak restaurants, like Peter Luger in New York City, Prime & Provisions in Chicago, or Pappas Bros. Steakhouse in Houston. However, when it comes to chain restaurants, there are a few steaks that make the cut. What is the top steak in America at chain steakhouses? Here’s what diners say.

The Capital Grille Porcini-Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye

As a food writer, I regular dine at chain steakhouses. While I have a favorite steak at every spot and appreciate each chain for various factors, I will die on the hill that The Capital Grille is the best chain steakhouse in America. I have never had a bad steak, side, salad, or dessert at the Darden-owned restaurant, and the service is as good as you will get at any 5-star restaurant. Of all the steaks, the Porcini-Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye at The Capital Grille is most unique and delicious. It features an intense, savory porcini mushroom and red chili crust, finished with 15-year-aged balsamic vinegar. One Redditor explains that “the balsamics’ acidity went nicely with the fattiness of the ribeye and earthiness of the mushrooms.” Lots of diners maintain its delicious. “Among my favorite meals!” writes one. “The Porcini crusted ribeye was fiyyyyaaaa! Solid Top 3 steak I have ever tasted! The robust umami flavors were just out of this world! Definitely will come back!” a Facebooker adds.

Texas Roadhouse Prime Rib

Prime rib is becoming increasingly harder to find. Diners maintain that Texas Roadhouse has a delicious prime rib dinner, that is “the hidden gem” on the menu, reveals one fan. “Great flavor, and it’s way more consistent than the steaks in terms of quality and doneness. I’ve been eating it for several years and it’s great. One of my favorite meals out from a chain.” Another recommends the creamy horse radish to accompany it, “and save one of those rolls for dessert and dip in that horseradish au jus. It’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever eaten. Perfect blend of savory and sweet.”

LongHorn Outlaw Ribeye

At LongHorn Steakhouse, the Outlaw Ribeye is a  20 oz. steak that “doesn’t follow the rules” and is a “premium, marbled cut of bone-in ribeye” coated with their smoky Char Seasoning and fire-grilled. “Can confirm—the outlaw ribeye slaps hard,” a fan confirms. “I agree, the outlaw at Longhorn is very good!” another says. You also can’t go wrong with the filet.

Delectably delicious in every way,” says a Redditor. “Just ate the Delmonico from a DoorDash order. Can’t believe I’m saying this but top 3 steaks I’ve ever had. Was phenomenal and I’m a ribeye snob,” another adds. “Ditto. I took your suggestion and had the Delmonico tonight. I just wanted a good steak without spending a ton. Delicious, tender and cooked perfectly (medium rare),” a third agreed.
