Stuck for dinner ideas? Why not try this Sweet Chili Tofu 😍 Not only was this visually appealing, we also loved how easy this was to make and it pairs really well with rice too. 😋 So, to all the tofu lovers out there, this is the perfect way to start off your weekend. 😊
EASY SWEET CHILI TOFU ✨
Ingredients:
300 g firm tofu, tear into chunks and uneven pieces
3/4 cup sweet chili sauce
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup plain flour
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/3 cup water
1 tsp ginger, crushed
salt and pepper to taste
*For the toppings: (optional)
sesame seeds
chopped spring onion
Method
Using a clean towel, pat dry your firm tofu to remove the excess water. Tear the tofu into chunks & uneven pieces. Set aside.
Make the batter by combining the plain flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt & pepper to taste and water. Add the tofu chunks into the batter mixture and gently toss to evenly coat them. Line the tofu pieces on a baking sheet and bake it in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius or 392 degrees Fahrenheit.
Prepare the Sauce:
In a cast iron skillet, add the ginger, sweet chili sauce and soy sauce. Mix it well and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes. After that, add the baked tofu into the pan. Give it a good stir and make sure it’s all covered up with with the sauce. Transfer in a plate and garnish it with sesame seeds and chopped spring onion. Serve and enjoy with steamed rice!
