BTW Dave, drain the liquid from the red beans into a container, don't dump it, then rinse the beans, as sometimes chili needs to be thickened a bit, and adding the bean liquid is perfect for that!
Also, I add the liquid into my uncooked rice with the broth or water, it adds a great flavour!

Oh my! I love chili dogs so much that I will have them about once every other week if not once a week. I love your recipe because I usually use wolf brand chili with beans in a can. I'm definitely going to have to make this. I wish I knew how to get the picture to you so you can see it when I make them.

G’Day Dave. If you want really good mince/ground beef/hamburger ask your butcher to mince up some rump or round or blade steak. Most will be happy to do it for you.

Wow Dave! I can't believe you are doing these today, as I just happened to have some homemade chili in my fridge! I do believe we are kindred spirits or maybe it's just a Canadian thing, but I make mine the exact same way, and yellow mustard is definitely the ticket! The only thing I don't have is hotdog buns, but I do have some homemade bread, so that will have to do today! Hey when I was a kid we didn't always have buns, so bread it was! Dave, great recipe & yes on us & a big yes on the girls. Chili dogs are huge here with multiple styles of chili, the # 1 here though is Cincinnati style chili, but 2 or 3 other styles are popular also, btw in re: to shorts, another issue is you a food show, "shorts" seem to be almost an AD , just my opinion though, keep your stick on the ice pal
