Ingredients
Tomato 4 in no cut into pieces
50 gms of Lentil or Toor Dal
1 Onion cut into pieces
15 Shallots cut into pieces
1 Sprig of Curry leaves
3 Kashmiri Chillies
20 ml of oil
700 ml of water
Salt to taste
Half a spoon of Turmeric powder
One spoon of Fennel powder
One spoon of Chili flakes
One spoon of Mustard seeds
25 gms of Garlic
25 gms of ginger cut into pieces
Preparation
Heat the pan and pour in 10 ml of oil. Put in the onions ,garlic shallots and onions and saute till the onions and shallots are a golden brown.Add the turmeric powder, fennel powder and chili flakes and saute. Add 500 ml of water and mix. Put the lentils into the mixture and mix well. Cook the mixture for 30 minutes until the mixture becomes thick.Add salt to taste and mix. Add 10 ml of oil and put in the tomatoes and saute and crush the tomatoes well to make a fine paste. Pour in 200 ml of water and mix and cook further for 6 to 8 more minutes. In the small pan take 5 ml of oil and heat. Put in the mustard seeds, curry leaves and the kashmiri chillies and let the mustard seeds pop. Pour in the oil with the ingredients over the tomato lentil stew we prepared and take off the flame and serve
