Mexican Food

Steak tacos in UK

-Marinated skirt steak in orange juice and carne asada seasoning from USA cooked in a Tefal grill
-Shredded cabbage with lemon and Tajín
-roasted salsa, took the Kenyan peppers off before they got burnt too much. We don’t have Serrano here and the jalapeños here taste like grass, so mild 😭
-mashed avocado from Aldi, they don’t use preservatives here so tasted just like mashed avocados
-corn tortillas in the tortilla holder

I really miss true carne asada over here the most 🥺 but dinner was under 12£ and I know it would’ve cost so much more to make in the states.

NICE! You understood that in Mexican food, less is more.

Next time, find an asian market for your chiles.

I am not fan of that beef, yet the salsa hmmmm looks tasty

Good effort! How was it? I feel for the Brits who love mexican food and are basically deprived. ¡Provecho!

Curious as to why you have to buy seasoning all the way from the USA. It’s just spices. Make your own.

As for the carne asada, it just means grilled meat. Any cut will do technically although skirt steak is fine. It doesn’t even have to be grilled, a pan would work nicely as well. What makes it “true”?

Why is the meat undercooked and cut in such big chunks?

With exception of lettuce, those look like proper Tacos, salsa, guacamole appear to be the real deal. Bon Appetiet, good job.

I suppose is hard to find tortillas and more really hard corn flour

Try chopping the meat into tiny pieces it’s a way better experience

  10. steak should be in smaller pieces, when you bite into that, the taco probably falls apart

Looks good. I have not seen the cabbage and lemon combo (minus Tajín) other than from my Honduran grandmother, and I live in SoCal! We also add tomato to it.

Sorry you only have sweet tortillas, but you gotta love British weather and tea and absolutely everything else.

As adopted chihuahuita: next time do not marinate, salt and pepper is all you need.

If you want a simple condiment guacamole instead of just mashed avocado, try 1 avocado, 1 1/2 teaspoon lime juice, 1/2 teaspoon coarse kosher salt. Mash to desired consistency with a potato masher.

    Looks good!

Haha I don’t know why people are giving you so much crap for how you cut the meat. The one thing I’ve noticed in Mexico is that a lot of places will cook meats in all sorts of different ways. It’s not all like of Mexico eats meat in served in only one way. It’s tortilla, salsa and meat let the man eat how he wants.
