I live in SoCal so there is a plethora of taco shops around. I have a really good one down the street so I wanted to do a side-by-side comparison of the Taco Bell dipping tacos vs the type of tacos they are trying to emulate.
I think the dipping tacos were made true to what they are supposed to be unlike the tons that we see on this sub that look terrible. They were good but I still wonder why they put the cheese on the outside, probably to get it crispy instead of just being a grilled tortilla.
Dipping tacos were $3.98 each vs $4.25 each for the quesabirria and while good, there is no comparison taco shop is much better. The dipping tacos need to be much cheaper to be considered.

Don’t even have to take a picture inside the Taco Bell dipping tacos because there’s nothing in them!

They say you cant compare, I got the same replies, but TB isnt that bad, if you could get similar consume rather than the red sauce, that would make a huge difference.
They are too expensive to not be a bit better.
I know I can get a plate of QB that costs more overall but is cheaper per taco.

I never compare taco bell to regular Mexican food

Those Quesabirria tacos look good! I, too, am blessed to live in an area full of authentic Mexican eateries and taco trucks. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some Taco Bell. They fill a tasty niche. But authentic Mexican food they ain’t.

I had quesabirria tacos for even cheaper than taco bell. $10 for 3 of them. Marinated stew beef and all that.
I really don’t get why people still buy taco bell.

A new Guadalajara birria shop opened nearby, what was the verdict OP, on price/cost effectiveness and taste

the tb ones are ok, but something about them just feels low quality. id recommend subbing a different sauce for the red sauce, avacado ranch is a much better compliment imo.
dipping them in the red sauce just gives me a dog food vibe. i worked in a pet food store for a couple years and dipping this item into red sauce makes it taste exactly how most of the dog kibble smelled.
they should really be priced like 1/2-2/3 of what they go for. they’re supposed to be like a budget version of the premium mexican dipping tacos that they’re imitating, but they are priced the same as the actual mexican food they’re attempting to immitate while being *far* lower quality.. very disappointed with this item.

The one with cilantro is automatically worse and inedible.
Anyways, people need to stop comparing Taco Bell to actual Mexican food. I live in LA, if I want Mexican food I can get Mexican food. If I’m getting Taco Bell it’s because I want Taco Bell, I don’t get Taco Bell when I want Mexican food. Completely different craving.
