Is chili oil appropriate for this sub? Made some yesterday, tastes and smells amazing. I like to spread it on bread and eat it, it’s full of flavor. Recipe below.

For this recipe I used:

Dried chili flakes
Fresh chopped chilies
Salt
Sugar
Anis seeds (just a little bit, the flavor is strong)
One small bay leaf
Onions
Garlic
Chives
Peppercorns
Neutral frying oil (I used sunflower seeds oil)

Put your chili flakes in a bowl with the chopped fresh chilies, finely chopped garlic and onions. Add one tablespoon of salt and one tablespoon of sugar. Mix well and put aside.

In a pot, put the oil in very low heat and add in the oil some garlic and onions (doesn't matter how you chop them, it's just for flavor). Add some anis seeds, the bay leaf, the chives and the peppercorns. Let the oil on very low heat for at least 30 minutes, the ingredients need to infuse with the oil on low heat. After 30 to 40 minutes, remove all the ingredients from the oil (use a strainer), you should only have the oil left. At that point, let it sit on medium heat until it becomes hotter.

Take your mixture of chili flakes you've set apart before. Turn off the heat under the oil and pour your chili mixture in the oil. It's gonna fry for a bit, mix it well. Wait for it to cool and put it in a jar. Enjoy!

I was planning on adding a teaspoon of teriyaki in the oil but I forgot. Might add it later. Also sesame seeds. Didn't have some but they are great in this recipe.
