

Monk Sauce is probably the definition of obscure… it’s made in buttfuck nowhere Arkansas, at the Subiaco Abbey. I don’t think they sell it outside the immediate surroundings. But, if you’re in the area, and you see it, definitely take a bottle home!
This one is the smoked sauce, and it’s delicious. It’s tangy and smoky, and reminds me very much of tinga. It’s not all that hot, I’d describe it more accurately as warm, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t taste delicious.
I just put it in some white chili and it elevated my favorite dish. It’s also great on chicken tacos and nachos… or literally anything else that could use some smokey tang.
If you have the chance, do yourself a favor.
