I saved about 1 gallon of hot chili peppers in our freezer from throughout our 2024 garden season. It’s time to dehydrate them and turn them into crushed red pepper for our kitchen and our chickens.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ABOUT THIS VIDEO ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Why do we give hot peppers to our chickens as a supplement? For starters, chickens cannot taste the capsaicin, the compound that makes peppers spicy, so they won’t experience the burning sensation. But most importantly, the capsaicin can actually help fight internal parasites and bacterial infections within their digestive system, acting as a natural preventative measure. Keep in mind though, hot peppers should be given as a treat or supplement in moderation to avoid potential digestive issues.
