BUTTERMILK FRIED CHICKEN TENDERS
Y’all, these chicken tenders are as good as any restaurant. My kids love them and I think you will too!
INGREDIENTS:
2–3 lbs Chicken Breast, cut into strips (OR chicken tenderloins with tenderloins removed)
Canola Oil for frying
Marinade:
¼ Tsp Salt
½ Tsp Black Pepper
½ Tsp Garlic Powder
½ Tsp Onion Powder
½ Tsp Paprika
¼ Tsp Italian Seasoning
10 dashes Hot Sauce
1.5 cups Buttermilk
Breading:
1 cup Flour
¼ tsp Garlic Powder
¼ tsp Paprika
½ tsp Salt
½ tsp Pepper
2 tbsp Cornstarch
DIRECTIONS:
In a medium bowl, combine all marinade seasonings. Stir in buttermilk and hot sauce. Place chicken strips in a gallon freezer bag and pour marinade over top. Massage chicken to get everything well coated. Marinate in the fridge at least 2 hours or overnight.
In a deep-sided pot or pan, heat canola oil to 375 degrees.
Mix together breading ingredients in a large bowl. Remove chicken tenders from marinade and place in breading mixture. Use one hand to add to the bowl and your dry hand to help coat the chicken.
Place 3–5 chicken tenders at a time in hot oil and fry 7–9 minutes or until chicken reaches 165°F. Don’t overcrowd your oil.
Place on a wire rack on a cookie sheet and place in the oven (on the lowest setting) to keep warm. Serve with homemade ranch.
