Diagnosing browning leaves

Hello all,

I'm new to pepper growing and have a few different varieties planted in planter boxes in my back garden. I live in Western Australia and it's currently summer, with most days recently being around 33(91F).

In the last week quite a few of my plants have started turning brown on the edges and curling inward. I've also noticed slower growth on some of them. I'm not exactly sure what it could be, from my searching it could be many things like:

  • Over or under watering
  • Nitrogen burn (however, I have not fertilized in a few weeks)
  • Nutrient deficiency
  • Sun scald (they have been getting full sun)
  • Poor water drainage (my planters do have holes)

I generally water my peppers whenever the first couple of inches of soil start feeling dry. In case its sun scald I have put some shade over the top, and I plan to drill more drainage holes too.

Does anyone have any ideas on what might be happening? Thanks in advance!
