I’ve seen people post these in the sub before and figured I’d give them a whirl too. At $1.25 a bottle I didn’t care if they sucked and I had to throw them out, but surprisingly I think I’ll be using these.
The habanero sauce was a surprise, it has the same taste and smell as those generic gift packs of hot sauce everyone here gets for Xmas; salty and vinegary and almost stale, somehow. But the heat on this is surprisingly strong. It’s way hotter than any other similar sauce I’ve ever bought, I’d say it’s about as spicy as the Grace habanero sauce. It’s good for mixing into soups and beans and stuff, but not really on anything where it’s not drowned out by other flavours.
The ghost pepper one got the most reaction from me. It might be hard to see in the pic (sorry lol) but it has papaya and passion fruit in it, and you can really taste those flavours. You still get the initial kick of salt and vinegar, then you get the fruit taste, then the smoky ghost pepper heat catches up with you. It feels a teeny bit hotter than the hab sauce, but this one might be harder to use due to the fruitiness. I did mix some in with lentils and rice and it was quite good.
Anyway, if you’re in Canada and looking for some very cheap heat, give these a whirl.
