Overwintering question

I had decided to try overwintering my peppers, and while 3 out of 8 had started popping leaves and seem pretty happy, others aren't showing much signs of life. Do I still have hope, or should I stop watering them? They are sleeping in repotted 80compost/10vermiculite/10perlite mix at the moment.

Yeah, they’re dead. The ones that still have a shimmer of green still have hope.

I over wintered 3 last year and none of them made it. Followed advice too. Is there a trick to it or is it luck? My neighbour doesn’t touch his jalapeno plant at all and for three years in a row it has bounced back.
