It’s the perfect time of year for a chili cook-off! Join Sarah of Instagram’s @CookingWithTheFirstLadies to make the Obama family chili recipe and Lady Bird Johnson’s Texas chili and famous pecan pie.
Lady Bird mailed copies of her chili recipe and handed out her pecan pie recipe while campaigning for her husband on her whistle-stop tour to the South. This train tour was the first time a first lady traveled without her husband to campaign for him, and she gave a number of speeches to the American public. Lady Bird set the precedent for subsequent campaigning first ladies.
