Chili is to Texas what cheesesteak is to Philly. You don’t tell the people in Philly that your states version is a cheesesteak. Don’t tell a Texan that knows how chili was made, when chili was brought about, and the history behind chili; how to make chili.
Chili was brought to texas- as another dish completely by immigrants from the Canary Islands. They changed that dish to accommodate available supplies and what they could take on the trial being away from supplies into what is known as Chili.
Any argument about beans is invalid and documented to be that there’s no beans in chili. Period.
Only one argue is actually worth having- was tomatoes and onions used- there’s mixed documentation of their inclusion due to shelf life and being able to be carried in a saddle bag or pack.
Anyways- there’s no beans in chili.
A pot with beans, meat and chilis/ is a pot of beans.
That’s not to say beans aren’t good, I love beans. Had them growing up. They are great. They aren’t called chili. Stop reassigning food genders.
