Do you all use fresh cheese on your tacos? I hear some people say it’s unheard of. Can’t be possible it’s the only way I eat tacos.

Real tacos typically don’t have cheese, but you do you, no hay problema. Provecho.
Nope the only way a taco gets cheese is if you are eating “alambre” mix of onion green, bell pepper, mushrooms, pinaple, meat and melted cheese either chihuahua, manchego or monterrey jack. Ingredients may vary
Fresh cheese ; the young cow, or the little cow?
Heck yes – take flight and sprinkle it like Salt Bae

It’s really rare in Mexico. Only a few very specific tacos have it, such as quesabirrias. Cheese on tacos is mostly a north-of-the-border thing, with TexMex doing it a lot and Socal Mex using it primarily in fusion dishes but keeping it out of tacos. There’s also the plague of places throughout the world that just copy Taco Bell’s style, and those should all be avoided.
Tbh for most tacos, cheese doesn’t really add anything unless they’re bad tacos.
Yes, queso fresco or panela hits amazing with some homemade taquitos

It’s pretty common in Tamaulipas! Tacos estilo Matamoros regularly use queso fresco. You do see them alot in south Texas because folks moved their business to the US throughout the years but I believe they originated in Matamoros.
I made my own queso fresco when I lived in Japan. Not a very common cheese there
Yeah i use queso de rancho, when i eat tacos de cecina or sometimes with arrachera.
Depends on the kind of taco, I don’t think its that common on bistek tacos, but honestly it also depends on your personal taste so whatever, eat them as u wish!!
Queso fresco SLAPS.
Over black beans, crumble it over your sopes, enchiladas, chilaquiles, huaraches, and other dishes.
Man, in my town, we used to eat tacos with just a little salt…so, for me tacos with cheese is a sohisticated plate. Ummm, I probably can eat half a kilo of tortillas with just cheese (fresco)!
En mi casa siempre que hago ensalada de nopales compramos un queso fresco y nos echamos tacos
Tacos Dorados (crunchy) yes, always.
Common street asada tacos, nope.
I just watched a video for making corn tortillas, by Villa Cocina, who I presume is Mexican, or of Mexican descent. At the end she slaps a virtual sausage of cheese on the tortilla, adding some salsa.
But I want to say, it’s your taco, add the cheese. There’s no authenticity police in your own kitchen, unless you invite them in.
Cuisines adapt and improvise all the time. “Authenticity” is a mug’s game.
I grew up making tacos of JUST corn tortilla and queso fresco. Delicious! Of course we put it on other stuff too.
Casi en cualquier lugar donde puedas comprar tacos le puedes poner queso por un costo extra. Yo siempre le pongo queso o crema a mis tacos, igual con crema de ajo quedan deliciosos.
Only when I make them in the house. Or tostadas and stuff
I have just recently started buying Queso Fresco. Where have you been all my life?! I actually use it in Saag Paneer also. Paneer is also a fresh cheese and I can easily buy queso fresco in my normal grocery stores.
That cheese is not meant to go on tacos it’s more of a flautas, tostadas sopes maybe even caldo de queso but not on tacos
That cheese is hilarious, we have cheese linked to states/regions but not buildings, “estilo rancho”.
My dad literally eats tacos just with this cheese. And we always have a good one and an old one in the fridge
I make queso fresco tacos but don’t add queso fresco to meat tacos. Can’t say I’ve seen anyone do that but if that’s how you like ‘em nothing wrong with it 🙂
Dónde vivo solo se le pone queso fresco en los tacos dorados 🤤
Carne Asada tacos with cheese and sour cream only, I make tacos like that from time to time. Whatever you can get in between that tortilla.
i mean… tacos are totally versatile so its more about not how a taco is made its more of what are the tacos you eat. said by certified mejicano wey
Putting fresh cheese on tacos is unheard of in Mexico.
Its good on taquitos de frijol.
I personally do a queso fresco and avocado taco sometimes when I’m eating something else like carne asada for example. Sometimes just the queso fresco by itself but if you mean adding it on top of a carne asada taco for example then no, I almost never add cheese to my tacos that include meat.
You can put on your taco whatever you want there are no rules sooooo enjoy your tacos de queso fresco (add some avocado 🥑🤤)👌🏻
I’m Mexican bro, I can answer this with total authority.
The best queso to use in a taco is queso badon.
No doubt!
Ehh! I’ve never seen people add queso fresco to a carne asada taco or something like that but, doesn’t mean it’s wrong lol I usually use mozzarella cheese and make like a quesataco. I’ve only seen people use queso fresco in a tortilla w avocado.
I just had 2 delicious tacos with everything, including some queso fresco. Add to that some lemonade and listo. 😁😋😋🌮🌮
More power to you man. I do like quest fresco on tostadas and doors and pozole
Lived in Mexico four years in three different regions and visited a few more. Its common to be able to put cheese on tacos but it’s usually a melty cheese like manchego or queso chihuahua/menonita (both not dis-similar to Monterrey Jack), sometimes quesillo/queso oaxaca, especially on alambres. Queso fresco is usually used to top antojitos (sopes/picadas, tacos dorados/flautas/taquitos etc) or as a filling for enchiladas. I make tacos dorados with it as the filling at home.
