Salsa

Does anyone know what type of salsa this is? It’s the table salsa of my favorite taco place and I want to try to replicate!

It’s kinda watery/thin but has big chunks of onion, green onion, cilantro and what looks like some sort of red and green pepper. It’s not spicy at all and very tangy, like it’s heavy on the lime and onion flavor.

have you tried asking the restaurant that serves it? sounds crazy, I know, but that’s where I’d start

It looks more like hot & sour soup than salsa, honestly.

It looks like they used scallions or green onions, cilantro, probably jalapeños, I don’t really see anything resembling tomatoes, possibly tomatillo, I don’t know what the acid is but since you’ve tasted it you can probably tell if it’s vinegar or lime juice. Looks like it’d probably be pretty easy to throw together. I’d add salt last and slowly until you can get the taste right.

I associate tangy with tomatillo.. start there! and completely agree this style is addictive. can’t recall the brand but recently got a random tall jar of a yellowish tomatillo salsa and it was transcendentally phenomenal with quesadillas.

I think it kinda looks like sofrito with a few things added to it
