I don’t like cento, either. Or any available at Walmart. I did use Muir Glen exclusively, but have had some major quality issues over the last few months. Currently using Cirio brand and I like them very much (I buy at Food Lion so ymmv).

I usually mix fresh and crushed tomatoes.
Also lime over lemon for me.

Give canned ‘fire roasted’ tomatoes a try.

A restaurant I worked for we always used Ben E Keith’s “brand” of whole peeled tomatoes. Always thought they might change on us one day but they stayed consistent! Another place our distributor didn’t deliver so we literally went to the Kroger across the street and got another brand and everyone complained. We never had so much wasted/refunded/returned salsa, haha. Find your brand people!

Wirecutter researched the best canned tomatoes and it’s pretty interesting
I recently switched to Bianco Di Napoli and haven’t looked back. The umami is incredible and all my guests are in awe every time I make anything tomato based.

Get some roma tomatoes and roast them on a comal

Strianese, La Valle and Mutti are pretty solid choices for canned tomatoes.
