Too lazy. Takes a fraction of the time with my hand blender

  2. suckingonmyhevos

The pig molcajete! I had a huge one when I was little.

  3. throw667

I wish I could find a largest one. But they cost a fortune.

    Blender.

Molcajate or whatever Italians call it, for pesto. Blender doesn’t work for pesto.

Ni madres. Cleaning that vs the blender….

No siempre pero de ves en cuando.

Are those pumpkin seeds? I would have never thought of adding that. Interesting.

Also molcajates are for people with time. I ain’t got no time. Food processor is my go-to

I don’t have one! I would if I did though, they give a nice texture and flavor. Even in Mexico they were expensive though! A blender was cheaper

I like molcajate because if you blitz tomatoes, it turns them orange. They stay red if you just smash them. Also, they say that even if you clean a molcajete well theres still a little of everything you put in it left. So score, extra flavour!

A huevo!!, I mean, of course, not every time but the end result is amazing with some salsas

For all the ones wondering about those green beans:

“Leucaena leucocephala is a small fast-growing mimosoid tree native to southern Mexico and northern Central America… In Mexico [the young pods are] eaten in soups and also inside tacos, it is known as guaje”

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leucaena_leucocephala

Basically those green little beans are the green seeds of the guaje plant, and are used in Mexico in many ways.

My dad was born in Izúcar de Matamoros, Puebla and he makes a dish with these seeds, makes them in a sauce and adds pork. This dish is called huaxmole. It’s quite delicious! (you should try it)

  11. Wouldn’t it be better to grind the seeds first, before adding the liquid-y stuff?

  12. Blender normally but a few pulses in the food processor if I want something with texture

I use mine as often as I can for salsas and guacamole — yes, the blender is faster, but I always prefer the taste and texture of molcajeteada…plus after the arm workout, some chips and salsa feel like a solid reward 😅

It helps if you grind all the dry ingredients first.

Cuando hay fiesta o reunion, porque la salsa en el molcajete da una excelente presentacion.

  16. Voracious_Port

Of course, much better than the blender.

La salsa molcajeteada con chile, tomate, cebolla y ajo tatemados es simplemente gold.

I remember my mom teach me how to use it and how to make salsa on it. To be honest I used to hate to make salsa using those prehistoric artifacts when we already have a blender.

Now me as an adult realized that there’s no better salsa than the one is made with a molcajete.

Nowadays, I’m teaching my daughter and son to use it

Salsa de guajes, hace mucho que no la veía

  21. Yes, sometimes. It gives a taste and texture to the salsas. Sadly, its use its being lost. In the future, maybe you can only tried a salsa of molcajete in an expensive restaurant.

In the summer on a weekend, if i have the time. It is really a different taste. I also did a pesto with our basil plant and it was great. something about pulverizing i guess changes the taste. most of time though, straight from the grill to the blender for salsa.

  23. The real salsa is made in molcajete. End of discussion

  24. Living_Friendship281

  26. Maximum-Section-4

Absolutely yes. They are the best. Of course my wife is Mexican and I’ve learned to use a lot of things like that.

  27. Pyropecynical

Theres this new technology that we got some years back called a blender. In all seriousness I only used one once to crush ghram crackers
