Here’s the recipe I followed: https://youtu.be/_BAnkcDRjb8
I will admit that I substituted Jalapeño peppers for Serrano peppers, because my store didn’t have any at the time.
That being said, it had almost no discernible flavor. I’m looking for a recipe to replicate the salsa from my favorite Mexican restaurant as a kid. It was so flavorful, incredibly refreshing and also quite spicy. It also smelled mouth-watering. I’ve not quite had anything like it since I moved away.
All that to ask, what is a good salsa roja recipe that I can attempt? I really would like to find a good one. Thanks in advance.

YouTube recommends that guy to me a lot , his videos are well made and he has a good hosting personality but his recipes always strike me as a lil sus.
That recipe seems to be a bit tomato-heavy but most noticable is salt and lime juice are completely missing from the recipe. That’s inexcusable. Right to jail.
My guess would be in the ballpark of 2 tsp salt 2 tsp lime juice. But add a little, taste, and repeat until it tastes right.
I made this one before using the guidance from the video (includes salt) and I thought it was pretty good, but I only used 2 serranos instead of 5 and it was still quite spicy. I thought it was pretty solid. Did you add the salt or no?
He really needs to fix the recipe if there’s no salt listed.
Serranos don’t taste the same as jalapeños , the first are more sweet , you can roast the jalapeños or scold the tomatoes to bring a little more sweet flavor to the recipe .
The guy in your videos seems like a nice guy, but I have to be honest; none of his salsa recipes ever caught my eye. I just don’t think they’re any good. I would try a different recipe.
