Not sure if it’s salsa, but I made traditional Oaxacan Black Mole using Rick Bayless’ recipe for the first time!

    Props to you.

    Mole is one of dishes on my list that I will gladly pay for rather than cook it because of all the ingredients you need to source.

    I went to Oaxaca a few months ago, and the food there especially the mole is amazing.

    Oaxaca is up there as one of the greatest food city of the world. Right behind Lima and Bangkok/Chiang Mai.

    Fun fact;

    The word Mole comes from a Nahuatl word that means “sauce”. It was adopted by Spanish and has come to mean a specific type of sauce usually. And as we know , Salsa means “sauce”.

    That’s where the mole in “Guacamole” comes from.

    A****guaca****te = Avocado

    ****Mole**** = Sauce

    IMO they’re all at least related, and belong in this sub.

    A little off topic but I was really disappointed by Frontera in Chicago .. I’d give it another shot though

    Anything that takes the effort of making Oaxacan black mole is just automatically allowed in. You could convince me it fits in a cake subreddit. Good lord. I’ve made it once, it was amazing, but good lord is it far from simple.
