I tried this warm salsa (pictured right) at a Jalisco style restaurant, and I’d love to create it, but I can’t figure out exactly what is in it. It is served warm and has a deep, earthy taste. It has tomato skins for body and seems to have quite a bit of cumin. Any help is appreciated.

It’s probably just a roasted salsa with ground cumin. Was it fairly spicy?
If you’re ever near a Cantina Laredo, they have this style and it’s so so good
I’d say tomatoes and chile de arbol. Probably roasted. If not, try with chile guajillo, it has a strong earthy flavor.
