Ugh these high prices are ridiculous. Back when I worked at Taco Bell (almost 9 years ago) the chapula combo was 8.99
Dude theres a combo for 11$ with 2 chicken chalupas a taco and a drink. Never order individual. If you want even more food for 12$ order 2 5$ chalupa craving box sub chicken and youll have 2 chicken chalupas 2 5 layer burritos 2 tacos 2 nachos and 2 drinks.
I’m not necessarily defending this, but can anyone really be surprised given the economy? Fast food isn’t immune to rising prices in rent, food, labor etc…now yes, corporate and franchise greed plays a roll but that’s not all of it. Not when every schmuck who barely graduated high school thinks they are worth $15/hour to under fill a Crunchwrap and forget your sauce packets.
you guys just need to learn how to order properly to save money. ordering ala carte items like this at ANY fast food place would be expensive

I stick strictly to the boxes due to cost, can’t beat the $5 box right now even if it’s not exactly what I’m feeling…it’s still Taco Bell!
They have a Chalupa Supreme cravings box where I live for 5.99. Also comes with a taco, a beefy melt burrito, cinnamon twists, and a drink. I substitute a chips ‘n cheese for the cinnamon twists at no extra charge. It’s almost too much food. 😅
Never order a la carte if it’s not from the value menu. Should have just gotten 2 $5 boxes.

To everyone: Yes I should have gotten the combo or a $5 box. I know there are ways to get deals and ofc I had a feeling it wouldn’t be the best price in the world with two à la carte items but holy.. I got straight up robbed.

Im not a TB girlie, but every 3 years or so it strikes my fancy. I went in and asked for a Mexican pizza and a small drink and it was over $9, and i said “im sorry, no thanks.” I think TB and i are broken up for real real now.
My Taco Bell near me only charges 9.98 for two

Dang. Everyone’s right about getting combos and craving boxes, but it kinda sucks that we’re all pushed to spend money on and consume mediocre extra calories that we don’t even necessarily want. All to not feel stiffed or wasteful.

I found a local hole in the wall Mexican (kinda, more Latin food in general than mexican) restaurant in my city. Has different specials everyday. One day, the special was 3 Chalupas with chips and salsa. It was 7.48$ after tax. They were BIGGER than taco bell chalupas, and MUCH MUCH better overall. After the meal, I opened up the app, and wanted to see what it would cost from Taco Hell, 17.41$.

Almost 10$ more, for much worse food.
When fast food places now cost more than twice as much as a sit down restaurant, something has gone wrong.

I can take the wife to our actual Mexican sit down restaurant cheaper than we can go to Taco bell. And the food is worlds better
