Green* Tabasco VS El Yucateco sauce

I’ve always loved green Yucateco sauce on burritos, tacos, rice, beans, spaghetti, pretty much anything really, I wanted to try out this tobasco though and was just wondering how it was received from others point of views.
I see it every time I go into a Mexican restaurant but never tried it as I order takeaway with the green salsa cups and or avocado sauce.

Yucateco has a bite of spice that Green Tabasco doesn’t have. Green Tabasco is probably closer to a verde sauce being more tangy rather than spicy.

Does anyone else think the green Yucateco has lost quality/gotten more “fake” tasting in the last decade or so? I used to love the stuff but now it tastes kinda gross to me. Maybe it’s just my taste has changed…

The yucateco is surprisingly spicy. Dont’ let the green color distract you from the fact that it’s habanero based. I like it quite a bit. Green tabasco, like all tabasco, is crap. Just vinegar and a bit of spice.

Rumour has it that the green and red habanero sauces are the same. They dye them green or red. The use of it is if you are eating some food which will not contrast with the sauce you cannot see how much you have put on.

  5. Totally different sauces, not remotely comparable (I like both).

If you want a bottled green sauce I recommend the Cholula Verde. I put it on tacos all the time. I’m a fan of the Tabasco on pizza.

Nothing beats a recently made ‘salsa matajada’ or ‘salsa en molcajete’

But I prefer chimay’s salsa de habanero, I like the spiciest one the most.

Avoid any crap with Xanthan Gum as ingredient. I would recommend Mary Sharp’s hot sauce and O’brothers Habanero hot sauce. Even Tabasco Habanero hot sauce is much better than Mexican brands. Unfortunately, Mexican habanero hot sauces are plenty of chemicals.

Tabasco is an american salsa, it’s not Mexican by any means.

    As said by u/TheNightBuffalo
Marie Sharp’s—- all flavor with no nonsense ingredients.
If you like green salsa, you’ve got to try:

Marie Sharp’s Green Cactus Habanero Pepper Sauce!

    Enjoy!

  11. If you leave the Tabasco out of refrigeration for a month or so once it’s opened, they’ll be about the same colour.

That’s about where the similarities end.

If you like Yucateco, your options in this genre should be El Yucateco, El Yucateco Roja, Negra, or Exxxtra Picante.
