Taco Bell

Where does Taco Bell get its tomatoes and sour cream from?

I was wondering if they have like a farm in each region where they grow their own tomatoes and then drive them to all the stores weekly where they are freshly diced each morning and if on that farm they have their own cows which they pasteurize the milk from to make their sour cream as well?

This is a solid question. I don’t eat tomatoes at all and I’m not a huge fan of sour cream but their sour cream for some reason is sooooo good to me

$3.50 extra for a little sour cream and a handful of tomato butts is robbery.

We make our own sour cream, we just go in the back for a little bit and then.. there we go, a new batch of sour cream

Funny thing is you can customize and add the sour cream and tomatoes and it’s cheaper than the “supreme” option.

Their price to add sour cream to anything should be a fucking crime

I used to get the grande meal for $8 then hit the Walmart up right next door for a mondo tub of sour cream.
    1. I’m not paying that for sour cream.
    2. I want more sour cream than they give.

When I worked at Taco Bell from 2012-2015, the tomatoes arrived pre-diced in a plastic tray with a sealed film lid on a refrigerated truck with all the other ingredients.

The sour cream came in a big paper tube that gets loaded into a metal gun that pushes out a specific amount every time you squeeze it.

The only real food-prep that ever happened in-store was anything that needed to be fried (nachos, chalupa shells, cinnamon twists, etc), rehydrating the refried beans, pouring hot water over the rice and chopping cilantro for the pico de gallo (which I don’t believe taco bell has anymore).

Everything else showed up to the store pre-prepared and just had to be heated or dumped onto the line.

I’ve long been thankful that I got to avoid Taco Bell’s excessive charge for ‘supreme’ items since I don’t like raw tomatoes anyway. Since I get carryout and eat at home 98% of the time, I just use my own sour cream from home.

As some who worked in food service for a long time I’d guess they get pre diced tomatoes and big bags of sour cream. I’d guess they are somewhat local for cost effectiveness, when I worked at chipotle (which makes this a little different because they specifically try to locally source all ingredients within a few hundred miles) you’d see the places it came from on all the labels of boxes. Sorry if that’s way too much info & if you have any other curiosities, shoot!

How the hell do they charge treefiddy for tomatoes and sour cream

I was just talking to my gf about this yesterday. I am not a fan of sour cream so it doesn’t matter to me but how can sour cream and tomatoes add so much to the cost of a taco! It makes no sense.

The way I see it is Taco Bell owes me money for all the times I didn’t get something like lettuce or tomatoes in my order

I think it’s very well known that Taco Bell uses only the best, highest quality, locally sourced ingredients in their food. All of the produce is organically grown from local farmers and beef is Grade A.

Understand that it’s not just the cost of the tomatoes and sour cream.

It’s the transport, refrigeration, spoilage, and ultimately space in their store to have those items available.

If Taco Bell could get rid of those toppings without people complaining, they probably would.

  15. I remember years ago my parents refused to buy us Taco Bell as they weren’t paying the Puerto Rican farmers that grew their tomatoes. I do not know if they still get tomatoes from Puerto Rico, though.

  16. Last week I had tomatoes that were still frozen in my chalupa. The crunch was a nice touch. New seasonal item maybe?

They come from the planet malchior 7, where the trees are 300 feet tall and breathe fire. All produce was grown 2000 years ago using ancient blood rituals of the malchior people. Not only does it make very fine mahogany, but the tomatoes from the vines and milk from their tree tits can bend the fabric of the universe.

Taco Bell is a fucking scam. Stopped eating there when I realized I can get actually good Mexican for far cheaper.

people thinking your question is legit 😂

There must be a government contract there.

The sour cream and tomatoes (at least at the store I worked) was a farm in Mexico called “Jordan Farms”

The tomatoes here are fucking trash and probably why I I don’t like tomatoes since I was a kid. Just long lost PTSD memory of biting into a burrito and just going iccckklk! Nah but they are truly awful in Alaska.

  23. leafy_returns

Good one. It’s all organically grown. Organic free range chickens, and grass fed cows too.

“Freshly diced each morning” LMFAOO I work at tb

  30. Thatone805guy

Taco Bell’s product comes from a company called “McLane” who sources all the tomatoes, sour cream etc from the manufacturers

  31. DujisToilet

Chipotle will straight up put 32oz of ice cold Daisy sour cream entirely all over your entire bowl like they have no concept of recipe, taste or portion control covering every other ingredient from the light of day for free.
