Anyone else randomly get chips and cheese and the chips taste like straight up soap? It’s always random but only from my location TB location. Just curious if it’s a location specific issue or a common problem. (Photo for more engagement, obviously you can’t taste the chips through my camera lol)

Had this happen many times was told it’s when they sit in the plastic container to long and haven’t been replaced
I sometimes get a bad sugary taste that makes them inedible.
I haven’t experienced this at our tb location (yet), but I have at a local pizzeria.
Turns out, they wipe down the food prep tables in the kitchen but fail to rinse the soapy water off properly. This theory sounds like your scenario. Alittle splash of cleaning too close to the fryer?

Yes. A few times within the past year or so, between two different stores. They’re repulsive and it tastes like they’re coated with some chemicals.
As others have said here, I recall seeing an older post some months ago where someone else mentioned it was oil not being changed out properly at the restaurant.

That isn’t soap you’re tasting. It’s rancid oil. It happens a lot at restaurants with a fryer. The oil they fry in is either bad or the chips were kept too long and the oil in them started to break down.
I don’t taste soap I taste bad oil and it stains your mouth. On bite and it travels all through your mouth. It’s nasty af. I’ve never had this problem back in the day. But no it happens a few times out the couple weeks I go

I’ve had them where they taste like rubbing alcohol. I always assumed a surface was cleaned and wasn’t allowed to dry properly before the food made contact. It’s wild learning it’s just dirty oil.
I’ve tried the soap in the Taco Bell bathroom, and thought that it tasted kind of like chips. Does that count?

Yup my normal place is like that. Cinnamon twists always have a chemical soapy taste to them so I never get them. Chips are 50/50 sometimes fine sometimes cardboard chemical.
