Some varieties can handle cold much better. Aji charapita if I’m not mistaken can grow native in the ande mountains and areas of jungles in high elevation in South America, particularly Peru.
I brought my ajis inside to get them out of the cold and they don’t like it. Gotta pull 3 10 gallon pots in and out of the house every day or I lose all my flowers
