This is a hot sauce from Japan and I can guarantee you it’s flavor is like nothing you’ve ever had before. It’s a mix of Carolina reaper, soy sauce, and kanzuri (fermented chili paste). Although that may mean you don’t like the taste since it’s so unique. So far, I only really like the flavor on taco bell and haven’t really found anything else that I enjoy it on.
I’m not sure how to explain it properly, but I’ll give it my best shot. Full disclaimer, I only get burritos and quesadillas so that’s what this review references.
The tortilla breading helps absorb a lot of the chili oil so you don’t have the extreme lingering heat where the oil just stays in your mouth forever, but you still get the heat for a bit. Then the kanzuri just kinda compliments the taco bell sauces in the food item, like the quesadilla sauces. It sort of lowers the potency of the kanzuri taste while amplifying the quesadilla sauce to the max and just makes it the perfect flavor with the right amount of heat. I ended up using a lot of that really spicy hot sauce and incredibly didn’t end up with a horribly upset stomach or just stuck on the toilet for the evening. 10/10
If you are curious about the sauce, here’s a link for where to buy as well as a cool video on how it’s made

I love Paolo! I didn’t realize he had a hot sauce!
It sounds good but $20 for a *2 ounce* bottle is pretty wild. Even pretty expensive hot sauces with exotic ingredients are usually more like $15 a bottle and the more standard 5 ounces.
I’m not saying it’s not worth it from an ingredient cost perspective. Honestly, I have no idea. I just know I’d burn through 2 ounces in a week and I don’t need a new $80 a month habit!
