Tried my hand at smoked salsa for the first time


Did a smoked regular salsa and smoked salsa verde.
Regular had tomatoes, red onion, jalapeños, garlic, cilantro, and lime juice. Verse had tomatillos, white onion, garlic, jalapeños, poblanos, cilantro, lime juice. Pretty happy with the results!

    Those are some huge yields! Which did you prefer? The tomatillo base or the romas? I’ve found myself preferring tomatillo lately

  2. I enjoy smoking stuff but it seems inherently antithetical to the point of salsa.

    Muting bright, fresh ingredients via smoke kinda makes it worse unless the gimmicky smokiness outweighs the loss.

    I’m thinking I either need to have smoked salsa in addition to fresh salsa or maybe just smoke the peppers and half the onions.

    Haven’t figured out the sweet spot but am open to thoughts
