I personally dont top. I trust a plant knows how to grow. I know some people who swear by it though.

I don’t top but I do snip flower buds until the plant can produce like 20 at the same time at least

The only reason I might entertain the idea of topping is if (and only if) I sowed my peppers too early and they outgrew their indoor growing space AND there was still at least one more month before my final frost date. Topped plants will need time to recover before they’re stressed again by being transplanted. Your itty bitty baby is fine how it is.
