Shamba Chronicles: Watching My Habaneros Ripe!

From Maua to Moto: The 5-Stage Journey of My Homegrown Capsicum Chinense 🌶️🇰🇪
Wazi wazi family! Just wanted to share the progress of my backyard shamba project here in Kenya. I’ve been documenting this Capsicum chinense plant, and it’s been amazing watching it go from a delicate flower to pure fire.
Here is the breakdown of the journey:

1. The Bloom: Those classic small, greenish-white chinense stars popping up at the nodes.
2. Fruit Set: Petals dropped and the tiniest, wrinkled little lantern pods starting to form.
3. Maturing Green: The pods taking shape, hanging heavy, and getting that signature bumpy, lumpy texture.
4. The Color Shift: The most satisfying part. Green fading out making way for a brilliant, fiery orange/red.
5. Harvest Time: Deeply wrinkled, glossy, and packing serious heat. The aroma is insane!

Nothing beats the feeling of harvesting your own heat. For the veteran growers here, does this look more like a standard Habanero or a Scotch Bonnet variant to you based on the pod shape?
Let me know what you think! Peace.
