So I decided to try my luck growing peppers, and noticed this happening. I'm new to growing peppers, so I didnt know if the pepper is supposed to grow straight up out of the top. I have another banana pepper plant that has one growing off the side like I expected.

That’s normal. Smaller peppers will grow upwards. Bigger fruits will hang down
Yeah some varieties grow upwards, and some plants end up developing a flower and fruit right where it branches like that.
