The Eden Prairie City Council gave initial approval Tuesday for two new businesses — Dave’s Hot Chicken, a restaurant, and Wings Credit Union.
Both proposals will require one additional council vote at a future meeting before receiving final approval.
Dave’s Hot Chicken
The California-based restaurant, which serves Nashville-style hot chicken, tenders and sliders, will move into a veterinary clinic building at the Prairie Village Shopping Center, 16790 W. 78th St., Tom Ripley, a representative from engineering firm Kimley-Horn, said. The Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurant will occupy part of the building, while the veterinary clinic will remain on the other side.
The project includes the addition of a three-season patio that customers will be able to enter and exit through the building, Ripley said. The restaurant will not have a drive-through.
The 7,800-square-foot building will leave 5,800 square feet for the veterinary clinic, Ripley said. Dave’s Hot Chicken will occupy 2,560 square feet, with an additional 550 square feet added for the patio.
To address traffic concerns, the restaurant will add signage near Kowalski’s to discourage vehicle stacking and pickup or drop-off activity at the front of the store, Ripley said. The first aisle in the parking lot will also be converted to an exit-only lane to reduce the risk of accidents.
Dave’s Hot Chicken did not respond to Eden Prairie Local News’ inquiry about its anticipated opening date.
Wings Credit Union
A Wings Credit Union branch will be built in the northeast corner of the Cub Foods parking lot at Leona Road and Den Road, said Barb Rockman, a representative from Pope Design Group.

The credit union has about 950,000 members, including approximately 6,000 Eden Prairie residents, Rockman said.
Most Wings Credit Union branches are located in or near retail centers, similar to the proposed Den Road location, Rockman said. The setting allows customers to combine banking with other errands due to its proximity to grocery and retail options.
Julie Klima, the city’s community development director, said several trees in a parking lot landscape island will be removed to make way for construction but will be replaced at a one-to-one ratio in new landscape islands.
Wings Credit Union did not respond to EPLN’s inquiry about its anticipated opening timeline.
