A chicken salad restaurant chain is promising free chicken salad during the grand opening of its new Lehigh Valley location, its first in Pennsylvania.
Chicken Salad Chick will hold its grand opening Aug. 4 at the Airport Shopping Center in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, a news release announced.
Giveaways that week for customers who are at least 16 years old will include:
One free large “Quick Chick” of chicken salad per week for an entire year for the first guest in line at 10 a.m. on Aug. 4. The next 99 guests in line will receive a free large Quick Chick of chicken salad per month for a year, and the first 50 guests in line at 5 p.m. will receive a free commemorative cup with a purchase.
A free cooler for the first 50 guests to purchase two large Quick Chicks on Aug. 5.
A free 40-ounce tumbler for the first 50 guests to purchase a meal with at least one side on Aug. 6.
A free tote bag for the first 50 guests to purchase a meal with at least two sides on Aug. 7.
A “Scoop Card” for the first 50 guests to purchase a meal with one side on Aug. 8.
Menu options include sandwiches, salads, fruit bowls, soups, macaroni and cheese, cakes and cookies, according to the chain’s website.
Restaurant operator Amanda Greenford, co-franchisee with her husband Ernest, told The Morning Call she previously worked in hotel and property management, and he is a United Airlines pilot and U.S. Army veteran.
“I’m from Alabama and there’s Chicken Salad Chicks down there everywhere,” she said. “So I was very familiar with the brand. I loved Chicken Salad Chick.”
Her husband and their kids were introduced to the chain when the family moved to Alabama for a short time, she said. When they moved to Allentown to be closer to his base of operations in Newark, New Jersey, they missed the chain.
““The closest Chicken Salad Chick is a good maybe two hours from here, so we thought, ‘Hey, it would be perfect to bring it to the community because it’s so different than anything that’s up here,’ ” Greenford said.
The hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Greenford said the Hanover Township location is one of three restaurants they’re opening in the Lehigh Valley in the next couple of years.
The chain operates over 340 restaurants across 25 states, the news release said.
