Palace Diner in Biddeford featured on Good Morning America
Biddeford’s Palace Diner is getting more national attention, this time with a feature on Good Morning America’s ‘Diners Across America’ series Thursday morning.
BIDDEFORD, Maine —
Palace Diner has been a landmark since 1927. Step inside and you’ll find a cramped space with just 15 stools at the counter. But that small dining car has a big personality and nearly 100 years of history.
“Good Morning America” has made it one of the spots on its series called “Order Up: Diners Across America.” GMA correspondent Becky Worley has already stopped at diners in Texas, California and Wisconsin. Now she heads to Maine.
The criteria to be on the show is just diners with great vibes and excellent food. Worley said it’s a cute spot and that she’s excited to try its famous tuna melt.
Palace Diner was previously featured on WMTW by Jim Keithley several years ago. The diner had given him the recipe for their Palace Diner Potatoes.
The diner was built in Lowell, Massachusetts, but its permanent home has been Biddeford for almost 100 years. Co-owners Greg Mitchell and Chad Conley reopened the diner in 2014, bringing their experience in upscale restaurants to the table.
Today, the menu includes breakfast favorites like pancakes, French toast and sandwiches. The brunch spot has earned national praise from critics in “Eater,” “The Boston Globe,” and “Bon Appetit” magazine.
Looking ahead, the owners of Palace Diner say they are planning to put some special events on for the diner’s 100th birthday next year.
