Fans of “old school” juicy smash burgers may get their fix at the recently opened New York’s 7th Street Burger, the first one in the state.
Located at 1048 Chapel St., 7th Street Burger opened Aug. 10, according to a company representative.
Known for its smash cheese burgers, Impossible burgers and crispy fries, the chain opened at the former Avocado location in downtown New Haven, The space was previously home to the store Ten Thousand Villages for 15 years. Smash burgers are known for their lacy, caramelized edges and tender, juicy center.
A location was announced earlier for Stamford in the same plaza as ShopRite on West Main Street, but the New Haven restaurant is the first location for the New York-based chain in Connecticut, CT Insider reported.
The chain eatery is known for its simple, classic menu with “a focus on doing a few things really well,” its website said.
“7th Street is three guys on the grill, with three items on the menu, & nine ingredients in the restaurant,” co-owner Kevin Rezvani said on the chain’s website. All burgers come with American cheese, grilled onions, house sauce and pickles, the website said.
Rezvani co-founded 7th Street Burger with a group of college friends with the first location opening in 2021 in New York City’s East Village. Since then there are 31 locations in New York, five in New Jersey, two in Washington DC, two in Massachusetts, two in Pennsylvania and one in Maryland, according to its website.
