(WWJ) A northern Michigan manhunt led police the body a suspect and a trail of victims:
Michigan State Police Lt. Ashley Miller said a call came in to 911 dispatchers reporting a shooting at around 11:40 a.m. Friday, near Lake City, northeast of Cadillac.
Police arrived on the scene and found three people dead. A fourth person, who was critically wounded, was taken to the hospital, Miller said.
Police then launched a large-scale search for a person of interest, identified as 39-year-old Chad Hickman, who was said to be driving a white pickup truck.
As part of the manhunt for Hickman, State Police searched a location and found the body of an additional victim, Miller said.
A short time later, troopers found Hickman’s vehicle abandoned near a wooded area.
With the help of K-9 team, Hickman’s body was found in the woods, along with another dead victim.
That makes a total of six people dead, including Hickman.
At this time, the names, ages and relation of the victims are not being released as MSP continues to investigate. There is also no information about a motive for the killings.
MSP said there is no ongoing threat to the public, but police are still asking people to stay clear of the area.
