Food assistance and resources available near you amid SNAP suspension, government shutdown

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients are expected to go without their benefits starting Nov. 1, leaving an expected 42 million Americans without food assistance, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Below is a list of food banks, pantries and other resources available in Central Florida for those needing additional assistance during the government shutdown.

For those interested in donating food or money, links are provided below. Volunteers are also needed in some areas.

Food banks and pantries in Central Florida

> Christian Food Pantry

Where: 103 High Ave, Lady Lake

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
