Woodstock – Ghost Pepper sauce

Haven’t seen this brand before, but this discounted at the supermarket at $3.49 and couldn’t resist. Not as hot as I would have thought after my last experience making a homemade ghost sauce, but it kicks for sure.

Slow burn that definitely made my eyes water, but nothing that will put you out of commission all night.

Flavor is good, nothing that blew my socks off.

Thinking that it would be good to mix into something sweet to mellow it a bit.

Modified cornstarch and xantham gum… if you care about your body. Don’t eat this trash. If you don’t care, have fun!

I remember hearing that they used the old Tropical Pepper Co recipes, but I tried them side by side with some old “expired” Tropical Pepper Co sauces from my collection and they were similar but far from the same.

I tried their scorpion once… it was pretty much just all smack your tongue without substantial flavor, and it didn’t sit well in my stomach.

I buy this one and the scorpion sometimes. I was a big tropical pepper co fan. I like that they’re pretty clean – just the pepper and acetic acid basically. The ghost is definitely hotter than the scorpion though, funnily enough.

The thing about Woodstock sauces is you either love them or you hate them or you think they’re okay

I like Woodstock just fine. Pepper first. Vinegar. Salt. Thickeners that aren’t too weird.

I buy the scorpion regularly. Kicks hard and fades quick. Just the way I want it.

Its not very interesting. Its just a good pepper flavor with not much else. No complaints.

The scotch bonnet, however, has too much thickener. Its almost kinda gelatinous. Flavor is fine, but why is it this weird translucent base? It reminds me of sweet chili sauce in its color and consistency, not flavor.

I love their scorpion sauce. I used to buy it regularly until I moved and my grocery store doesn’t carry it.
