Jersey Mike’s, a US sub chain with more than 3,300 locations across the United States and Canada, will launch its first UK branch on Argyll Street in London’s West End in late autumn 2026.

The expansion marks the start of a wider UK and Ireland rollout.

Three additional central London sites are set to open shortly after the flagship restaurant.

Peter Cancro, founder and chairman of Jersey Mike’s Subs, said: “Jersey Mike’s has always been about making a great sub, taking care of our customers and giving back to the communities we’re part of.

“I’m incredibly excited to bring that same spirit to the UK.

“We’ve spent decades building this brand in America, and now we’re ready to introduce a whole new audience to what we mean when we say ‘a Sub Above’.”

Founded in 1956 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Jersey Mike’s started as a neighbourhood sandwich shop and has since grown into a major player in the US fast-casual market.

The chain is known for its fresh-sliced meats and cheeses, bread baked throughout the day, and sandwiches made to order.

A signature feature of the brand is ‘the juice’ – a blend of red wine vinegar and oil drizzled over each sub.

Customers are also encouraged to order their sandwich ‘Mike’s Way’ – with onions, lettuce and tomatoes, finished with oil blend, red wine vinegar and spices.

Mr Cancro’s journey with the company began at just 14 years old, when he started working at the original shop.

By 17, he had purchased the business, beginning its transformation into the national brand it is today.

Despite its growth, Jersey Mike’s has remained committed to its founding principles of quality ingredients, customer care, and community involvement.

Its tagline, ‘A Sub Above,’ reflects this dedication.

The Argyll Street restaurant will place the brand in the heart of one of London’s busiest destinations, just moments from Oxford Circus.

Following the initial launch, Jersey Mike’s plans to open three more locations in central London before expanding further across the UK and Ireland.

The company has ambitions to open hundreds more restaurants.

The brand has already received industry recognition for its customer experience.

In 2026, Jersey Mike’s was named America’s highest-rated fast-food chain in the American Customer Satisfaction Index and secured the top spot in Entrepreneur’s Top 500 Franchises list.

Jersey Mike’s believes its focus on freshness, quality, and customer service will set it apart in the crowded UK fast-casual scene.

The company’s approach centres on preparing each sub fresh to order, with no shortcuts, and using only high-quality ingredients.

Bread is baked throughout the day, and vegetables are prepared on-site.

The brand’s story is also deeply rooted in its New Jersey origins.

What began as a single shop on the Jersey Shore has become one of America’s most recognisable sandwich chains, thanks in large part to Mr Cancro’s vision and dedication.

His decision to bring the brand to the UK is seen as a natural next step in Jersey Mike’s growth.

Mr Cancro said: “Jersey Mike’s has always been about making a great sub, taking care of our customers and giving back to the communities we’re part of.

“I’m incredibly excited to bring that same spirit to the UK.

“We’ve spent decades building this brand in America, and now we’re ready to introduce a whole new audience to what we mean when we say ‘a Sub Above’.”

And yes, there will be juice.
