Live music, football, local shopping, drag for a cause, and one very big bundle of puppy love are filling up the Austin weekend. We Are Austin’s hosts Trevor Scott and Sierra Waggoner caught up with Good Party ATX founder Sara Wolfe for her weekend picks and met Barnum, a 130-pound gentle giant looking for a new home through the Austin Humane Society.
Friday on We Are Austin means two things: an adoptable pet and a fresh Weekend Rundown. Sara Wolfe returned with both, introducing Trevor and Sierra to Barnum before sharing some of the events happening around Central Texas.

Meet Barnum
At approximately 130 pounds, Barnum may be one of the biggest adoptable dogs ever to visit the We Are Austin studio, but Wolfe says this approximately 9-year-old Rottweiler mix is a laid-back companion.
“He does like going on short walks,” Wolfe said. “But as you can see, a chill dog. If you’re looking for a dog to just blend in and maybe watch some TV with you, he could be a good buddy, too.”
Barnum came to the Austin Humane Society as an owner surrender after his previous family moved somewhere his breed wasn’t allowed. Wolfe said he previously lived with children ranging from young kids to teenagers and did well in the home.
“He’s such a good boy,” Wolfe said. “He’s ready to cuddle all weekend.”

Live Music and Football Fill the Weekend
For music fans, Levitation Fest is happening throughout the weekend, with performances at The Far Out and venues around Austin. Wolfe highlighted local band Die Spitz among the acts on the lineup.
Football fans can head to EastVillage, where the weekend begins with an outdoor movie night before rolling into a Saturday Texas tailgate featuring the UT game, raffles, prizes and trivia.
Best of all, Wolfe says the EastVillage festivities are free.
Pugs, Art and an Austin Tradition
Looking for even more four-legged friends? Pug Rescue of Austin is bringing adoptable pugs to Mr. Pickle’s Candy Shop, combining candy shopping with an opportunity to meet potential new family members.
The Pecan Street Festival is also back at the Hill Country Galleria with arts, crafts and live music.
“It’s one of the biggest arts and crafts festivals,” Wolfe said, highlighting performances from Austin acts including Blackillac and Hard Proof.
Drag for a Cause
Saturday also brings the Unite the Fight Gala to the Fairmont Austin.
The event recruits community members, many performing in drag for the first time, to raise money for LGBTQ nonprofits. This year’s theme is Power Couples.
“They perform, and it’s all to raise money for different LGBTQ nonprofits,” Wolfe said. “We’ve been before, and it is so much fun.”
One Last Taste of Austin Restaurant Weeks
On Sunday, shoppers can check out a farmers market at Camp East featuring local vendors, baked goods and more.
Wolfe also reminded viewers that this is the final weekend of Austin Restaurant Weeks, which runs through Sept. 13 and benefits the Central Texas Food Bank through participating prix fixe menus.
