Lehigh Acres man accused of cutting off ankle monitor, armed robbery after arrest for car burglaries

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. —

A Lehigh Acres man is wanted on armed robbery and kidnapping charges after deputies said he cut off his ankle monitor following an arrest for burglary.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, Dwayne Williams, 22, was arrested with an accomplice, Eric Sapp, for a string of car burglaries and other crimes. Deputies said after being released, Williams cut off his ankle monitor and has been committing more felonies.

Williams is wanted on charges of armed robbery, armed burglary, kidnapping and aggravated battery, as well as burglary, grand theft and credit card fraud charges.

The charges stem from a violent attack Williams committed two days after being released from jail, Crime Stoppers said. Williams and another suspect robbed a man at gunpoint and left the victim with significant injuries.

Williams is 5’6″, weighs 170 pounds and was last known to be living in Lehigh Acres.
