New York City-born Nan Xiao Long Bao is adding two more sites in New Jersey.

Founded 20 years ago in Queens, Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao is known for its handcrafted soup dumplings prepared in an open kitchen.
Its signature dumplings feature six varieties with naturally colored wrappers and different fillings: pork, crab & pork, chicken, pork & truffle, luffa shrimp & pork, and scallop & pork.
According to the chain, East Rutherford and South Plainfield both feature kitchens where diners can watch chefs mix, roll, fill and hand-pleat soup dumplings before steaming them.
The menu also includes noodle dishes, wok-fired stir-fries, pan-fried pork buns, scallion pancakes, dim sum, vegetarian dishes, house-made fruit teas and desserts.

Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao co-founder Michael Ma commented, “For nearly two decades, guests have traveled to Queens to experience our handcrafted soup dumplings and Shanghainese comfort food. Every new restaurant gives us the opportunity to introduce another community to the tradition of Xiao Long Bao and the joy of sharing a meal together.”

Besides East Rutherford and South Plainfield, Nan Xiao Long Bao has 14 other locations across the U.S. The first New Jersey site debuted in late 2022 at Towne Place at Garden State Park in Cherry Hill.
Upcoming openings include eateries in Connecticut, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio and New York, according to its website.
It also has a fast-casual version of the brand known as Nan Xiang Express. The four-year-old franchise’s footprint of 12 spots includes one that opened last fall at Mercer on One in Lawrenceville.
