EUREKA, Calif. — Two Eureka men were arrested in separate incidents on Sunday, including an alleged gas station robbery and a weapons arrest after first responders found an unconscious man in a business restroom, police said.
At about 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, the Eureka Police Department (EPD) responded to a reported robbery at a gas station on the 4000 block of Broadway. Police said a suspect swung an object at a victim while trying to take a pack of cigarettes.
Officers located 25-year-old Eureka resident Anthony McGrew nearby. McGrew initially refused to stop before dropping a black metal pipe, according to EPD. He was arrested on charges including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest and violating probation.
Police said about three minutes later, first responders were called to a business in the 600 block of Commercial Street for an unconscious man inside a restroom.
After the man was resuscitated, fire personnel found a firearm next to him. Police identified the man as 29-year-old Eureka resident Donald Garcia and said he was taken into custody following a brief physical altercation that injured an officer.
Police said Garcia, a convicted felon on parole, had a loaded firearm and high-capacity magazine. Garcia was booked on multiple weapons charges, felony resisting arrest and parole violations.
