The company has recalled Mezzetta Golden Greek Peperoncini Medium Heat sold in 32-ounce jars with the lot number 720106 and SKU number 10106328. According to the recall notice, the company consulted its “detailed production and distribution records” to identify where the recalled product was distributed and is working directly with the customers that received the affected product to remove it from sale.
Why Are They Being Recalled?
Mezzetta initiated the voluntary recall after a video surfaced showing what appears to be a dead mouse floating in a jar of peperoncini. According to a company statement, it has contacted the consumer from the video and moved quickly to investigate the situation and initiate the voluntary recall.

“We have requested to retrieve and examine the product involved in the original consumer report and are reviewing the relevant production, sanitation, and food-safety records as part of our ongoing investigation,” the recall notice stated.
To date, there have been no reports of illness or injury associated with the recalled product, and the investigation into the contamination is ongoing.
