NEW CANAAN — Health inspectors in New Canaan visited 17 establishments that serve food in June and cited four of them for serious violations.
Priority violations are considered the most serious and must be corrected within 72 hours. Priority foundation and core violations are considered to be more minor and must be corrected within 10 days and 90 days, respectively. Core violations, the least serious, are not usually detailed here.
During its June inspection, Tequila Mockingbird, 6 Forest St., was given a priority violation for having a dented can. The restaurant also received a priority foundation violation for not having soap in a dispenser. Both violations were corrected on site, according to the inspection report.

At the La Pescaderia Fish Market, 53 East Ave., an inspector issued a priority violation for improper use of gloves. The violation was corrected on site, according to the report.

Elm Restaurant, 73 Elm St., received a priority violation for a walk-in cooler at an improper temperature, according to the report. A subsequent reinspection noted that the issue had been resolved.

An inspection at Tony’s Deli, 75 Pine St., found one priority violation for employees using a cloth to dry hands instead of paper towels. The violation was corrected on site, according to the report.
