A new Mexican seafood spot opened its doors on the far North Side at the start of the month.
BƔltico Seafood and Grill has taken over 402 N Loop 1604 W., filling the former home of the Canada-based all-day breakfast chain Eggspectation, which closed in March.
BƔltico launched its soft opening Oct. 1 through the Oct. 4, making it the latest in a wave of new mariscos spots popping up around the Alamo City.

Inspired by an establishment of the same name in Torreón, Mexico, the BĆ”ltico website promises “an elevated Mexican seafood experience.”
Starters include seafood of many types and preparations, including the campechano cocktail with shrimp, clams, octopus and squid; fish ceviche tossed with cilantro, avocado and serrano chili; octopus chicharron; and breaded tilapia served with guacamole.
Fish is served in all forms – marinated, grilled or doused in sauce – and a shrimp-only list caters to crustacean connoisseurs, preparing the shellfish eight ways, including chipotle, mole, coconut or wrapped in cheese and bacon.
Tacos, tostadas and charcoal-fired pizzas also showcase seafood, from a “four seas taco” stuffed with octopus, squid, shrimp and tuna to a cheesy pizza with salmon, capers and red onions.
Landlubbers can find solace on a meat menu that includes steak and burgers.
BƔltico is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
